Joel Peter Levack (b. 1980), childhood to present day, has remained an Artist & Explorer.
Levack’s exhibition features photographs of the artist as a teenager, heading down his street, holding a giant sculpture of a Crayola box. The work itself has been preserved and features in the exhibition.
This use of childlike colour scheme trickles into the exhibition, with bold use of primary colours throughout.
The ‘burnt’ canvases; for example, a homage to Yves Klein.
The 90’s wall also features a homage to Jasper Johns.
The exhibition includes sketchbooks and photographs from the 1990s.
The other half of the exhibition features the artistic idea of The Now
Returning to the theme of abstraction and critique through an attempt to rationalise the 21st century statements drawn on clear acetate, and hanged above more canvases involving flame-as-brush.
He presents work in primary colours in a series of triptychs. Levack’s regular use of heart motif appears throughout the exhibition.
Finally, The Now wall will feature some site-specific works and some interactive pieces.
